I’m from Alaska. growing up on Fairbanks and moving to Anchorage five years ago. Despite being born and raised here I’ve never gotten the taste for the winters and am always looking forward to the next summer.
I started working in telecommunications fifteen years ago in Fairbanks as a cable tech for GCI. While I enjoyed the process of figuring out how to wire up the internet, phone, and cable for residential and commercial customers I found my place in their Rural Operations division maintaining the interconnected network of microwave, satellite, and fiber optic systems that provided villages with internet and local/long distance services.
In 2017 I moved down to to Anchorage to take on a senior position in GCI’s Network Operations Control Center (NOCC) where I specialized in restoring rural sites remotely. in 2019 I moved on to AT&T Alascom’s NOCC and have continued in providing 24 hour monitoring to networks in Alaska.
